Meet the Bookstagrammer:@demmi_writist

3:16:00 μ.μ.

  • How did you start bookstagram? It was the reason you made your account or not?

When I first joined Instagram I had no idea bookstagram even exited. I just wanted to make an account so I could post photos of random every day stuff and experiences. But when I discovered the bookstagram community I knew I had to be a part of it so I started posting bookish photos instead!
  • How did you come up with your bookstagram name?

I've always loved to write, have been doing it since I was a child, but it felt weird to call my self a writer at first because I only did it for fun and wasn't serious about it. I found the word "writist" in an article I read about writing and I figured it would be fitting to use it instead of "writer". And it was the first thing that came to mind when I was looking for an Instagram name!
  • How did you cοme up with your first theme? It was a spesific theme or just photos and why?

When I first turned my account into a bookstagram I pretty much had no idea what I was doing so I simply posted photos of books in random places! I started my first official theme a few months after that and the reason I chose it was because I wanted to add some constinsency to my account and I figured taking all my photos on the wooden floor would help with that. But it wasn't a well thought decision it was just the easiest way I could think of to have a theme at the moment.
  • What or who inspires you?

There are so many amazing bookstagrammers in this community that inspire me with their photos every day! While I try to be as original aa possible, it's always nice to see how hard some people work to take beautiful photos and it has always motivated me to do the same! Some of my biggest inspirations right now are @myfriendsarefiction, @lifeinlit, @madamescozycorner, @novelheartbeat, @berrybookpages and @bookishbronte! They're all truly amazing and I've always admired their feeds! And of course the books I read inspire me all the time!
  • Which is the reason you have been part of this community?

The main reason I decided to join bookstagram and have loved every second of being a part of it ever since, is because it gave me the opportunity to share my passion for books with so many other people! It's simply amazing to be able to talk about something you love with other people who love it the same!
  • Do you want to be a "big" account or "small" and why? Does the followers count to you?

To me the most important part of bookstagram is making friends and sharing our love for books! It doesn't matter whether an account is "big" or "small, what matters is that we're all here because of our common love for reading! That being said it's always nice to know your hard work is recognized and while I don't believe follower count is nearly as important, I do believe we'd all like to see our accounts grow at some point or another.
  • Do you interact with your followers and have you made friends? If so do you like this and why?

I've met so many amazing people here and I'm so glad I can call many of them my friends! Like I've already said, that's the reason I joined bookstagram in the first place and that's why I try to interact with my followers as much as possible and love meeting new people!

  • Why do you love books? What do they mean to you?

One of the main reasons I love reading is because it gives me the opportunity to lose myself in so many unique and amazing worlds! Books are everything to me and I don't think I could survive without them!
  • Which is your favorite book and why?

Ah the question that it's always super hard to answer. There are countless books I love but as always I'll have to go with Harry Potter! These books were my entire childhood, they were the books that really got me into reading, and for that they will always have a special place in my heart!
  • Tell me two bookish fun facts about you!

1. When I was younger I used to dog ear pages intead of using bookmarks and I have no idea who I did that or why because right now I like to keep my books in pristine condition! 2. Contrary to popular belief, Harry Potter was NOT the first fantasy series I ever read! That was The Chronicles of Narnia instead, and I still love it to this day!
  • Which is you favorite photo of your feed? (Upload it)

  • Tell me your biggest dream of being a part of bookstagram? Which the most exciting thing you wanna do/be?

I've had way too many amazing experiences so far (meeting people, joining book clubs and repping for businesses) so I don't think there's something more I dream of right now. I simply want this community to continue being amazing and I want to continue being a part of that amazeness! And I guess I wouldn't mind a chronological algorith either!
  • Do you spend more money for your bookstagram or not? Do you think it worths?

I definitely do! Aside from buying the occasional props, there are so many books I would have never thought of getting if it weren't for bookstagram! Bookstagram always introduced me to bookish merch and is the reason I'm currently obsessed with candles and bookmarks so bye bye money! And let's not even start talking about book boxes!
  • Have you ever thought of giving up and why?

Sadly Instagram has changed a lot since I first joined and many of these changes are not for the best. But despite its flaws it's given me some amazing experiences so no, I haven't thought of giving up. I love this community too much to do so and I will keep being a part of it as long as it exists!
  • Have you received negative comments/messages about you or your feed and how do you act?

No, I don't think I've gotten any but if I did I would definitely try not to let them get to me!
  • Lastly, what would you advice someone who starts bookstagram?

No matter what you do, what theme you decide to have, what books you choose to feature, the most important thing is to have fun and be who you wanna be! The moment bookstagramming becomes a chore, there's no point in doing it anymore. Do what you like, be yourselves and the rest will come in time!

  • How did you start bookstagram? It was the reason you made your account or not?

I used to have a personal blog, where I was posting reviews and personal thoughts, but then a massive reading slump hit me (plus a personal crisis when I stopped reading what I loved to read and tried to read what my father told me I should read). I recovered from it a few years later with my best friend's help and when I discovered Insta/Bookstagram I thought it was a good place for a new start.
  • How did you come up with your bookstagram name?

It's my name :))
  • How did you cοme up with your first theme? It was a spesific theme or just photos and why?

In the beginning my feed was very random and all over the place (I didn't really know how to take worthy pics and most of them were close-ups, basically just the cover of the book). But practice makes perfect. Now I'm taking all the pics at my friend's house because where I'm living the lighting isn't good and no one can help me with the photoshoot anyway.
  • What or who inspires you?

I'm trying to have my own style. I must say that bookstagrammers who are using their face/body in the pics are inspiring me because it's what I'm also doing :))
  • Which is the reason you have been part of this community?

I love reading and it's a good place to find out about new books.
  • Do you want to be a "big" account or "small" and why? Does the followers count to you?

Hmm, is it wrong if I say I want to be a "big" account? :)) In the end, I want to work in this industry and it might help me :-?? Plus, it's no fun if you're posting pics and you feel like no one sees them.
  • Do you interact with your followers and have you made friends? If so do you like this and why?

Oh, yes! I respond to every comment and DM because I think it's respectful. I've made some friends and I found people whom I really admire and I always check their stories and posts because I'm genuinely interested in their life.
  • Why do you love books? What do they mean to you?

I used to say that the real world is plain and boring and this is why I'm reading, but I don't think this is the reason anymore. It might sound stupid, but I think the perfect answer is "because I do". I love books because at some point in my life it just clicked. I wasn't a reader and then BAM! I started being one.
  • Which is your favorite book and why?

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. I love King's style, the fact that almost all his books are connected to each other and everything comes back to The Tower.
  • Tell me two bookish fun facts about you!

I used to eat my bookmarks, bit by bit... There are 236 books on my tbr list.
  • Which is you favorite photo of your feed? (Upload it)

  • Tell me your biggest dream of being a part of bookstagram? Which the most exciting thing you wanna do/be?

My biggest dream is to be able to afford myself by working in this industry, by writing and reading, and to turn my passion into my career.
  • Do you spend more money for your bookstagram or not? Do you think it worths?

I only spent money when I organized some giveaways and when I bought some props for the pics, but not too much.
  • Have you ever thought of giving up and why?

Not really, there's no reason to.
  • Have you received negative comments/messages about you or your feed and how do you act?

No, it didn't happen.
  • Lastly, what would you advice someone who starts bookstagram?

Don't stress over it. If you're doing it for fun, keep it fun.

Meet the Bookstagrammer: @abookishdemon

2:30:00 μ.μ.

Such a minimalistic girl again from Greece with nice book choices!

  • How did you start bookstagram? It was the reason you made your account or not?

·         It was actually, I enjoyed reading books and I enjoyed photography. So when a friend of mine suggested it, I got excited !!
  • How did you come up with your bookstagram name?

·         Well my current name @abookishdemon is kind of random cause I had another one in mind but it was taken and because I was always attracted to the dark side (Star Wars reference ) I decided that a bookish demon was cool enough !! Previously I had the name alwaysabookstagrammer but that was a bit too long.
  • How did you cοme up with your first theme? It was a spesific theme or just photos and why?

·         Photos ... just photos !! I didn’t have a theme until I reached 2K like I just posted random pics but after that number I decided to give themes a shot ... so far the only themes I have are different shades of white and brown
  • What or who inspires you?

That’s interesting ! Actually , my photos are inspired by fictional characters and what their aesthetic might look like ... doesn’t really make sense 😂 For example, I’m obsessed with characters like Harry Hart from Kingsman and Littlefinger from GoT ... so some in some pics I tried to capture their vibe !

  • Which is the reason you have been part of this community?

·         Mostly to make friends and get motivated to read more. I was going through a difficult period of my life and Bookstagram kinda helped me deal with everything ... a place where I could be myself and share my love for reading without getting judged !! Also, i show it as an activity that I did for myself, something I enjoyed working on without being forced to by other people.
  • Do you want to be a "big" account or "small" and why? Does the followers count to you?

·         I don’t think there is one person out there who doesn’t aspire to be big ... like 10-20K or more 😂 and of course if I’m good enough and I desrve that much attention then yes ! I’d love to ! But at the same time, I’m random and indecisive and basically a really inconsistent person so I’m grateful for having the followers I have ... I didn’t even believe it’d be possible to reach 100 😂
  • Do you interact with your followers and have you made friends? If so do you like this and why?

·      One of my best friends right now is someone I met through Bookstagram !! I’ve never seen her irl yet I consider her my bestie . And I also have a whole squad of people with who I chat daily about whatever and basically Instagram is the best thing that happened to me the past year !! So many friends and new ones are added daily, who doesn’t like that ? I think I appreciate these friends more than I do some fiends I know irl.
  • Why do you love books? What do they mean to you?

·         An escape ? A cheap way to travel to so many places ? An adventure to somewhere ? Books are basically a door and once you open that door there is a whole world around you, just waiting to be explored !! I absolutely love reading ❤️
  • Which is your favorite book and why?

·         Just one ? No way I can pick just one !!! Harry Potter would be the obvious choice but I’d also say “We Were Liars” by E.Lockhart ... that book was just A M A Z I N G and it taught me so much about friendship and life .
  • Tell me two bookish fun facts about you!

·         Okay this is embarrassing but : 1) I didn’t read Harry Potter until 2015 2)My Favorite character from GoT is Littlefinger and I think I’m like the only one who likes him but he is bae okay 😂
  • Which is you favorite photo of your feed? (Upload it)

  • Tell me your biggest dream of being a part of bookstagram? Which the most exciting thing you wanna do/be?

·         I don’t really have one I guess ? Like for me this is just a fun activity! But I’d like to be able to support and encourage others through my posts. Like influence them to chase their dreams and never give up and spread positivity
  • Do you spend more money for your bookstagram or not? Do you think it worths?

·         Not really ... no ! I’m a broke bookworm tbh 😂 I buy books whenever I can but only if I really like the book, as for bookish merch ... I only get Funko Pops but most of them are gifts from friends and that was a hobby I had before Bookstagram.
  • Have you ever thought of giving up and why?

·         oh so many times 😂 Usually I get discouraged by lots of things like “not getting likes” or “unfollowers” and basically self doubt that I’m not good enough ... but even though I might be influenced negatively from Bookstagram I think my life would be worse without it so I didn’t stop .
  • Have you received negative comments/messages about you or your feed and how do you act?

·         I’ve been lucky enough to never receive anything negative ... I’m so grateful for having people in my audience that even if they don’t like something they don’t act on it ! I’m pretty much very privileged on this ❤️
  • Lastly, what would you advice someone who starts bookstagram?

·         Do it for yourself ! Don’t start a Bookstagram just to grow and get free stuff or fame or whatever ... and don’t take long breaks , like I stopped bookstagramming for 5 months due to school and then it was like starting from 0 again ... and lastly enjoy it ! Talk to people and don’t be shy everyone is super supportive ☝🏻

Meet the Bookstagrammer: @zeilen_herz

3:49:00 μ.μ.

The first bookstagrammer is my first booksta bestie and a sweet person. She is from Germany and she is so talented!

  • How did you start bookstagram? It was the reason you made your account or not?
I started Bookstagram because I wanted to have an IG account, besides my private one, so I thought about what it could be. I searched for bookstagram accounts and when I saw them, it was clear for me that I wanted to have one myself.
  • How did you come up with your bookstagram name?
I changed it two times, so this one is my third one😅 I don't know how I came up with it but I just love the meaning behind it!
  • How did you cοme up with your first theme? It was a spesific theme or just photos and why?
My first photos are so awful (you can still see them because I want everybody to see how much photos can change within the years) but at the beginning I just took a photo of a book in my room... no decoration, no sunlight... but I just wanted to share the photos of the books:)
  • What or who inspires you?
Oh, there are so many accounts... I love to look around on many other bookstagram accounts and I think that almost every account inspired me a little bit!
  • Which is the reason you have been part of this community?
At the beginning, I didn't knew there is such a huge (or even) a community, but after a few weeks I discovered it and I still love being part of a community which is full of so many lovely booklovers & readers!
  • Do you want to be a "big" account or "small" and why? Does the followers count to you?
I think in some ways, followed count does matter for me, because I kind of enjoy it having an active account and communicate with so many other bookstagrammers... I think I wouldn't be unhappy with less followers it's just good the way it is!
  • Do you interact with your followers and have you made friends? If so do you like this and why?
I love interacting with my followers and through this I found some (even very close) friends and I think it is really cool to get in touch with people who have the same passion as you have!
  • Why do you love books? What do they mean to you?
I can't really name a specific reason why I love books... I read since I am able to do it and I think reading is like calming down after a stressful day, hiding from the reality and forget everything else for a moment!
  • Which is your favorite book and why?
My favourite book is 'Was fehlt, wenn ich verschwunden bin'by Lilly Lindner. I think there is only the German Version but this book has a really special meaning for me, and I cry everytime I read it.
  • Tell me two bookish fun facts about you!
1. I can get very angry when someone is touching the books in my shelves or even move them😱😂 2. I have more than 90 unread books and I think I will never get this number down.

  • Which is you favorite photo of your feed? (Upload it)

  • Tell me your biggest dream of being a part of bookstagram? Which the most exciting thing you wanna do/be?
My biggest dream is just that everything stays as it is! I love the interaction, the comments, repoing for some companies, being in touch with some authors...
  • Do you spend more money for your bookstagram or not? Do you think it worths?
Yes! I definitely do. I mean, the candles, the sub boxes, the bookmarks... I wouldn't even know them without bookstagram, bit I think they are definitely worth it!
  • Have you ever thought of giving up and why?
Yes, I have... more than once! I'm sometimes not confident with my feed, myself, my whole account. But then I look what I have and for how long I have it know and then I decide to not give up and it was everyone worth it to go I'm!
  • Have you received negative comments/messages about you or your feed and how do you act?
No, I think I never got any negative/hate comments!
  • Lastly, what would you advice someone who starts bookstagram?
Be yourself! Be happy, do what YOU like, don't try to imitate anyone and create your own style. Everything else will come with it!

Νέο project: Meet the bookstagrammer!

3:14:00 μ.μ.

Θα ξεκινήσω ένα project που λέγεται ''Meet the bookstagrammer".
